Energy performance

Check that the equipment delivered corresponds to the energy-efficient models requested in the procurement using energy labeling labels.

Energy labelling
If the requirement has been verified with an energy label or data from EPREL, ensure that the product's energy-label class complies with the requirement. 

Ecolabelling
If the supplier has used a label to prove that the requirement is met, check that there is a valid license, certification or equivalent for the product in question. This can be checked on: Nordic Swan Ecolabel. Note that the Nordic Swan Ecolabel criteria for TV and projectors will expire June 30th 2023, but the products can be marketed with the label until January 2024. 

This criterion is formulated as an award criterion. Tenders fulfilling the criteria are awarded, but the tenders not fulfilling the award criterion are  not excluded from the process further of evaluating tenders. 

Select an evaluation model that fits your specific procurement object where this award criterion can be included. Remember to specify the weighting of the award criteria according to your needs and objectives. You can also choose to provide a higher added value for better energy efficiency classes. You indicate what added value is assigned to the different energy efficiency classes.

The Ecodesign and Energy Labelling regulations have been revised, and the new requirements came into force March 2021. The scale is from A to G, where A is the best class. The Ecodesign Regulation (2019/2021) also covers resource efficiency and requirements for repairability and the availability of spare parts, which can contribute to a longer product lifespan. The requested Class F energy efficiency is a little more stringent than Class A+ in the previous regulation. The calculation formulae used in energy classification have been updated in the Ecodesign Regulation. As there is uncertainty in the market at the beginning of the transition to the new energy labelling regarding the availability of products with energy efficiency class higher than G, this requirement is designed as an award criterion that adds value to such products. The limits stipulated in the Ecodesign Regulation (2019/2021) require that, from 1 March 20231, electronic displays (up to 2,138,400 pixels) meet at least Class G F energy efficiency, and, from 1 March 2023, at least Class F. 

In 2016, televisions represented just over 3 percent of energy consumption in the EU, and the energy used by electronic displays (televisions, monitors etc.) is estimated to reach almost 100 TWh annually by 2030¹. The aim of this requirement is to reduce the environmental impact of the use phase.
