Routines for substitution of hazardous substances in the products
By this requirement you secure that the suppliers (trademark owners) are working actively with substitution of substances that are hazardous to the environment or human health.
- Special contract terms
- General criteria
The supplier shall, in its operations as a manufacturer (trademark owner) or via its or its subcontractors (manufacturers / trademark owners), have procedures for the substitution of hazardous substances in imaging equipment.
The procedures must be documented and include at least the 5 steps in the European Chemicals Agency's (Echa) model for substitution of chemicals:
- Know your substances and needs
- Search for alternatives
- Assess, compare and select
- Test, implement and improve
- Inform your supply chain
The supplier must in his tender provide a brief description of how they intend to fulfill the condition during the contract period. It can, for example, be shown in which or which steps in the supply chain the routines will be established and by whom.
Request a written description of the procedures for chemical substitution. The supplier shall provide corresponding information from any subcontractors. The procedures should at least include the 5 steps in the ECHA model for chemical substitution.
Ask the supplier to explain how the procedures for chemical substitution have been applied for one or a few selected products.
