Plasticizers in plastic and rubber material including external power cable
This requirement limits the content of plasticizers with hazardous environmental and health properties in plastic and rubber materials in the appliance.
- Technical specification
Plasticizers (phthalates) on the Candidate List must not be added to the plastic or rubber material of the appliance, including the external power cable, at concentrations higher than 0.1% by weight.
- Printed circuit board, PCB
- Plastic and rubber parts weighing less than 25 g and included in electronics parts
The supplier shall, upon request, be able to present any of for example the following:
- Technical documentation, for example declarations from the machine manufacturer, certificate from the cable manufacturer or test results. The test results must be within the permitted limits, ie a maximum of 0.1% by weight.

If the requirement is verified with an eco-label, check that there is a valid license for the product in question. This can be controlled on Nordic Ecolabelling (the Swan).
Information about the criterion
The requirement can limit the supply of available cables as well as other plastic and rubber parts, which reflects the advanced level of the requirement.
The Candidate List currently (March 2020) contains 14 phthalates.
The version date indicates when the sustainability criterion was created or last updated. Last reviewed dated tells when we last checked that the sustainability criterion still is relevant.
