Products of pork must meet requirements in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2018/848 of the European Parliment and of the Council on organic production and labelling of organic products, as well as the following requirements:

  • Pigs must be outside for at least four consecutive months on land where they can graze and root.
  • When pigs are not kept on pasture, they must have access to the outdoors as well as an indoor bedding place with deep litter.
  • During the warm season, pigs must have access to a mud bath or other kind of water bath.
  • Piglets may be weaned no sooner than at the age of 49 days, or 40 days when housed in groups  during all-in/all-out production.
