Accessibility advice
Level: Spearhead
Routines for universal design in operations ensure that we can conduct our operations to facilitate accessibility for everyone, regardless of functional ability. If the supplier can offer advice on universal design for the goods, products and services they offer, even better conditions are provided for good accessibility.

Criterion text
The supplier shall be able to offer several alternative and equivalent solutions in the performance of the contract. The goal is to widen the spectrum of users to achieve as good accessibility for as many people as possible.
Based on the information provided by the contracting organisation regarding the needs, characteristics, abilities and preferences of users and non-users1, the supplier shall be able to propose appropriate products and solutions in relation to, for example, product design, workplace design, function, materials and colours.
1Non-users refer to those who do not use the products and services today because they choose not to use them or they are excluded from interaction due to design barriers.
Proposed follow-up
Follow-up can take place via a written report, the submission of documentation or follow-up meetings where the supplier shall be able to account for how this works systematically with advice on universal design, accessibility and usability.
Information about the criterion
This requirement is formulated as a contractual condition as systematic work with universal design according to the standard is a relatively new area for many contracting authorities and suppliers. With the contractual condition being fulfilled six (6) months, or another period as specified by the contracting organisation, after the start of the contract, suppliers who have not worked on the matter before may commence this in the performance of the contract.
The standard "Universal design – Accessibility following a universal design approach in products, goods and services" SS-EN 17161:2019 is pre-purchased by the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority and can thus be downloaded free of charge on the SIS website, Accessibility through universal design.
