Criterion text
The product shall not be intended to have antimicrobial function, i.e. it may only contain biocides in order to preserve the product or the raw material in the product.
Verification
The supplier shall, upon request, be able to present any of for example the following:

- The product's safety data sheet and the product's label or product sheet where it appears that the product is not marketed as a biocidal product.

Labelling
If the requirement is verified with a label, check that there is a valid license for the product in question. This can be controlled here: Nordic Swan Ecolabel, Good Environmental Choice and EU Ecolabel.
Safety Data Sheet and product label or product data sheet
This requirement can be verified with safety data sheet for the product. See section 15 “Regulatory information” in the safety data sheet. Any included preservatives are listed here. Also check that the product is not marketed with claims of biocidal effects or similar on the label/product data sheet. If there are such claims, the product does not meet the requirement.

Biocidal products such as disinfectants are not included in the scope of these criteria.
