Restriction of substances of very high concern
REACH's candidate list addresses substances of very high concern. These substances may pose a risk during use and may limit the possibilities for safe recycling and reuse of the product.
- Special contract terms
The furniture delivered in accordance with the contract shall not contain substances listed on the candidate list in force (Article 59 of Regulation (EC) 1907/2006 on the registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals (REACH)) at levels above 0.1 % by weight (1000 mg/kg) per substance. 0.1 % by weight relates to each individual part of a product1.
If new substances are added to the list during the contract period, the supplier shall, no later than six months after the publication of a revised list of candidates by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), present an action plan for how the substance can be phased out.
1The percentage by weight refers to each individual part of a composite product and does not refer to 0.1 % of a composite product, but 0.1 % of each constituent part.
The supplier's acceptance in the tender means that the contractual condition will be met at the times specified in the contract. This can be followed up during the term of the contract.
Follow up on the contractual condition by verifying that there is a valid license for the product in question. This is checked as below:
- Svanen (Nordic Swan Ecolabelling)
- EU Ecolabel
Follow up on the contractual condition by requesting analytical reports for random sampling and verifying that the values are below the limit value of the condition for each substance. Also check that the analyses were carried out by a laboratory accredited for the analytical method used.
