Criterion text
Plastics, including woven plastics/synthetic leather, shall not have active additives or contain the following substances:
Lead (maximum content 0.01 % by weight measured value/detail)
Cadmium (maximum content 0.01 % by weight measured value/detail)
Plastic parts (>100 g), including woven plastic/synthetic leather should not contain chlorinated plastics. This does not apply to electrical components (e.g. electrical cables), hospital-grade waterproof PUL fabric, urine-resistant fabrics and woven plastic/synthetic leather on furniture intended for a care environment where the regular use of isopropyl alcohol for cleaning purposes is required.
The supplier shall be able to prove, on request, that the requirement has been fulfilled.
Verification
When requested, the supplier must be able to present for example one of the following:
- Labellings that meet the requirement, such as a valid license for
- Nordic Swan Ecolabel, Furniture and furnishings 031
- Möbelfakta
- EU Ecolabel for furniture 2016/1332/EU
- Analytical reports carried out by accredited laboratories
- The company's self-declaration/supplier assurance including technical documentation of compliance verified by an accredited verification body, accredited for the task according to ISO/IEC 17029, or equivalent standard.
Proposed follow-up
Labelling
If the requirement has been verified with a labelling, verification can be carried out by checking that there is a valid license for the product in question. This is checked on the respective website: Nordic Swan Ecolabel, EU Ecolabel, Möbelfakta.
Analytical report
If the requirement has been verified with analytical reports, carry out random checks of the analytical reports and verify that the values are below the requirement’s limit value. Also check that the analyses were carried out by an accredited laboratory.
Self-declaration verified by an accredited verification body
Request the company's self-declaration including technical documentation of compliance verified by an accredited verification body, accredited for the task according to ISO/IEC 17029.
Information about the criterion
There are currently no accredited verification bodies according to ISO/IEC 17029 (Conformity Assessment – General Principles and Requirements for Validation and Verification Bodies), as it is a relatively new standard. However, this may change, especially if the demand to verify compliance in this way increases. This possibility is therefore included in the list of possible evidence. More information about the standard can be found on Swedac's website.
